Leah McDermott is a Director of Clinical Programs at Therigy. She currently is a key contributor of clinical content for specialty drug assessments; leader in new innovative strategies to improve and ensure patient management and adherence; client services clinical lead promoting a smooth relationship among internal and external constituents; clinical component for Pharma Consulting team; and internal and external specialty medication and disease state educational trainings.
Leah started her nursing career 26 years ago in pediatrics but moved to managed care 15 years into her career.
She has managed a team of nurses crafting assessments, question sets and prior authorization forms for specialty medications. She has also created, collaborated and supported specialty drug pharmacy policies for a major payor. Leah was successful with rolling out and training a new computer documentation system to over 600 healthcare professions and administrative personnel. She used her experience as a lead clinician engaging two separate external clients with prosperous platform expansions.
Leah is a member of the American Association of the Study of Liver Diseases (AASLD), the American Nurse Association (ANA), the Pulmonary Hypertension Association, and is a Motivational Interviewing (MI) Champion/certified MI educator. She is a hepatitis C virus (HCV) subject matter expert (SME).
In addition to winning five Excellence Awards out of 50,000 employees, she is a Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt and has two poster publications at the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy (AMCP) for HCV where she won a Gold Award in 2015.
Leah is a registered nurse from Seminole State College with a BAS degree from Excelsior College.
