Blog: TherigySTM Oncology Care Plan

Specialty pharmacy care involves complex patient management and attention to detail. Every pharmacy supports hundreds to thousands of patients, and each of these patients requires a unique, high-touch clinical care plan for his or her specific disease state. Managing the unique needs of every patient in the pharmacy’s care at such a granular level requires constant diligence. This can quickly overwhelm pharmacists, patient care coordinators and clinicians alike.

TherigySTM supports pharmacies by automating and streamlining the information necessary to build successful high-touch and disease-state-specific care plans for every patient. Our staff clinicians regularly maintain these care plans to keep Pharmacists apprised of the latest specialty updates so they can focus on improving outcomes through direct patient care.

Our latest development is a comprehensive Oncology plan that addresses multiple types of cancer. This includes bladder cancer, breast cancer, central nervous system cancers, colorectal cancer, gastrointestinal stromal tumors, gynecologic cancers, hepatobiliary cancer, kidney cancer, leukemia, lung cancer, lymphoma, melanoma, multiple myeloma, myelodysplastic syndromes/myeloproliferative neoplasms, neuroendocrine tumors, pancreatic cancer,

testicular cancer, and thyroid cancer. The Oncology plan covers the full range of medications and associated care requirements, including self-administered products, oral oncology agents, self-injectables, and infused treatments. The latest of our updated care plans includes the IV oncology agents. Like all TherigySTM care plans, it increases a pharmacist’s ability to assess patient needs and intervene with the appropriate therapies.

What is unique about TherigySTM assessments?

Like many specialty pharmacy patients, oncology patients require complex care which can result in variable side effects. Pharmacists often face the challenge of guiding patients through the management of these side effects as they continue treatment. TherigySTM provides a side effect questionnaire using the CTCAE (Common Terminology Criteria for Adverse Events) grading scale to aid pharmacists in suggesting dosage changes, or other medications that may help mitigate side effects. Our care plans also include disease-specific activities including PROMIS GLOBAL-10 assessments/follow-ups, PROMIS Pediatric Global 7+2 assessments, ARMS-7 adherence activities, FACIT-Fatigue scale activity, and screening and follow-ups. Other activities include a patient satisfaction survey, PHQ-9 depression screening, and more.

The Continuum of Care

Therigy’s oncology care plans ensure that pharmacies can seamlessly address the full continuum of care for each patient and his or her unique requirements. The software identifies medicine-related problems, documents outcomes from suggested therapies, and communicates with the patient’s oncologist to streamline decision-making and inform follow-up care. TherigySTM enables pharmacies to collect, maintain, and report on performance metrics for patients, pharmacy efficiency, active patient enrollment, and patient satisfaction. The program provides a clear, functional, and intuitive solution for users across all technology skill levels, ensuring operations are organized and streamlined – all with the goal of optimizing care.
